The name Chiusaforte (Chiusa’s fort) recalls the defensive function that the town use to play in the past since ancient times. Originally called Clusa or Sclusa, it closed and controlled the road which followed upriver the course of Canal del Ferro. Today it is possible to visit the ancient fortress by going up Col Badin, retracing history with one’s own steps amidst the mountains.
